I am now learning the difference between a “compendium” and other types of notebooks (in particular, commonplace books). Yet, I am here wondering: Is all of this structure really necessary?
I am hating myself nowadays for wasting so much time on social media. I am continuously consuming videos—let them be “shorts” or typical long-form videos. I could be productive. I could learn something for real. I could reason, get new ideas, and be creative. Yet, I am wasting time learning the difference between the words that could be used to describe a simple notebook.
I am wondering whether this makes sense for two main reasons. The first one is, obviously, due to the fact that I am “wasting” rather than “spending” my time watching this kind of videos. The other one is actually related to its content: is it actually needed? Or is the only thing that matters about a notebook the fact that, in a way, you use it to reason or to jot down ideas, thoughts, and references?
What will I think of this in the future? Only time will tell…
Until next time,
Andrea Esposito
